De-prescribing & Tapering Clinic

De-prescribing & Tapering Clinic

Our Nurse Practitioner/Psychotherapist, Matt Ball, provides a service for those wishing to consider de-prescribing or tapering. This service is led by the latest evidence and the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines (Taylor and Horowitz, 2024).

This Nurse Practitioner led clinic to de-prescribing considers both the hyperbolic approach to tapering doses of medication and a social and relational approach to individualised tapering. Our approach to de-prescribing recommends that a person seeking to taper off long term use of medication also access psychotherapy or other forms of support – this support is available at Humane Clinic Psychotherapy Collective from therapists experienced in providing support throughout a de-prescribing journey.

Humane Clinic Psychotherapy Collective recognises that a person’s expression of distress, in whatever form it takes, is a function of communicating their needs. We consider each human being as the person best placed to be the arbiter of their own experiences, the author of their own story, and the leader of their own life journey. We seek to acknowledge your experiences, hear your story, and respect your autonomy.
